This site is set up to be completely customized by you! We've created a number of modules we felt would be of interest, including news, weather and sports. How to customize your pageTo add or remove modules, click on the "Customize this Page" link at the top left of the site. It will open a panel that will let you select or deselect the items that you want displayed on your page. You can even choose what color you want your page to be! When you have added or removed the modules you want displayed, and have chosen your favorite color, click "Save." |
Moving modulesNow that you have the modules that you want, it's time to arrange them! Again, this is totally in your control. If you want the news to be at the top and in the center, just click and drag the module by the title bar (you'll know when you are in the right place when a 'hand' shows up!). Move the items around until you are happy. That's it! The site will remember your settings for up to 1 year. Of course, if you clear your cookies, or if your browser isn't set to accept cookies, you will have to start over. We hope you enjoy this great new web portal, brought to you by Nsight! |
Sharing links from ModulesYou can share the links with anyone, even if they aren't a customer of Nsight! To share an item, simply click on the envelope icon in the module header. Then enter the email address of the person you wish to share the information with. Why do I have to enter the email address in twice when I want to share a module? This is to ensure you are sending it to the correct address, and to help prevent spam. |
|
This site allows you to add, remove, and reposition modules. This lets you customize the site based on what you want to have. The modules and positions are stored in your browser in a 'cookie' that remembers what you have selected and where you placed it, and then renders the page each time you visit. If you are having to reset your page everytime you visit you may need to adjust your browser settings. Sometimes, by default, a browser will remove cookies at the end of a session, or when the browser is closed. To ensure you have the best user experience with this site, please allow your browser to store and retain the cookie. Our cookies are set to expire 1 year from the time you first visit. Please be aware that cookies are stored only in the browser you are using. If you open a different browser (other than your default browser) the cookies will not be set, but you are then able to reset the site for that browser. Also, if you update your browser, you may lose your cookies. Please check your browser settings after an update to ensure your settings have not changed. |
| Recently we were making some updates to the site to ensure it worked properly in all browsers. While we were making those changes it was necessary to remove the customization functionality from the site. The updates have been completed and the site is again ready to be customized by you. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and appreciate your patience as we worked to make sure everyone can enjoy this site. |
| Most services that do not require parts can be done within 3-5 business days. |
| Our most popular services are virus cleanings, Windows reinstallation, data recovery, and upgrades. |
| PC's are generally expected to last no more than 5 years. Laptops are expected to last 3 years. Simple maintenance or upgrades can be recommended but any major work is likely not recommended. If you are unsure if your computer falls within this category, we can perform a diagnostic on the computer and give you our unbiased opinion. |
| Unfortunately, you can’t be sure with some retailers. We do not sell computers; if an Nsight technician suggests replacing your current machine you can trust them. We’d rather give you solid advice and continue working with your new computer in the future than to try and make a few extra dollars, when it may not be in your best interest. |
| This is a hardware diagnostic which checks the three most common points of failure on your system. From this diagnostic, we can determine and estimate the overall health of the PC as well as suggest any possible upgrades. |
| We make a backup copy or ‘snapshot’ of your entire hard drive before doing anything that destroys data. This snapshot is kept for 30 days after service is performed. If you remember something you forgot to have us backup initially, we can usually extract the files from the backup. |
| We can generally save files/documents but NOT programs. For example, we can save Microsoft Word documents but not the Word program itself. Programs have to be reinstalled with their original CD. We can also save pictures, music, email, contact lists, and bookmarks. |
| There are two important reasons for this. If your computer is infected, chances are that your antivirus program is either compromised or malfunctioning which will cause overall system instability. Because of this, it’s important that it be removed. Also, Antivirus programs can interfere with our scanning utilities and having it left on will typically generate bad scanning and cleaning results. You may reinstall your antivirus when you get the computer back from repair. |
| We are very successful at cleaning computers, however, under some circumstances the operating system will become too damaged to effectively clean the computer. When it becomes apparent to us that the operating system is too damaged we will recommend a reinstallation from scratch. Reloading the operating system is the only way to be 100% sure the system is clean. |
| We recommend and sell AVG Antivirus. If your computer is too underpowered to handle a full featured active antivirus program we can also install some lightweight free programs for you. Please remember that no matter what antivirus solution you use, there is no way for them to completely protect you from the dangers that exist. At best, a good antivirus program can minimize the damage a virus can do, even if it can’t remove it. |
| We only service computers |
| Yes we can take computers for recycling. Any data still stored on them is destroyed both digitally and physically. Since we charge by item (printer, monitor, computer are all separate items) and not by pound it is usually much cheaper to have us recycle the computer than your local recycling center. |
| This is something we do not do. Our repair shop is much better equipped to handle your computer than an on-site technician would be. It would be impossible for us to maintain the high quality of service we currently give our customers. |
| The repair shop is physically located at 1580 Mid Valley Dr. De Pere, WI in the large Cellcom building. We have drop-off locations at Nsight-Pulaski 122 S. St Augustine St Pulaski, WI and Nsight-Abrams 2711 E. Frontage Rd. Abrams, WI. Please note that the drop-off locations add an extra day or two to our turnaround time. |
| Most computers accumulate a lot of junk over time and they can become very bogged down even if you are diligent with keeping them updated. We recommend having your operating system reloaded from scratch at least every 2-3 years depending on use. All other maintenance should be performed as needed. |
Today’s internet is overrun with various forms of malware which can have varying degrees of effect on your computer. Unfortunately, there is no sure-fire way to ensure your computer will remain infection free. However, here are a few helpful tips that reduce the likelihood of infection:

Follow these easy, step-by-step directions:
|
|
Using the network interface device (NID) Nsight has installed a plastic housing called a telephone network interface device (NID) at the point where telephone service enters the house. This gray box provides two important functions for customers: it allows customer to check their service, including telephones, and more important, protects property from high voltage surges. Customers will be asked to do some basic troubleshooting when calling the Nsight Company office, which in many cases may save time and the cost of a repair call if you do not have the inside wire maintenance service. |
|
With wire maintenance Nsight will maintain the inside wiring and jacks of your residence or business. The monthly fee for wire maintenance is a low price of $1.95 per month. If you do not have inside wire maintenance Nsight comes to your location and finds the problem to be in your inside wire, jacks or your equipment you will be charge a service call charge. If the problem is in our network, we will repair it at no charge. To find out if the problem is with Nsight network or with your wiring or equipment please see Troubleshooting using the network interface device(NID) |

To set up your voice mail box:
Once this is done you need to enable the voice mail there are two features that have to be activated they are call forward busy and call forward no answer with number of rings you want it to pick up after. To activate the call forward busy; lift handset; press *90 wait for a dial tone and then dial the number you wish to forward to (822-9100, 865-9100 or 869-9100 whichever exchange you are located if you have an 899 number use 822-9100). If there is no answer or line is busy, repeat the above procedure within two minutes, wait for confirmation tone and then hang up. |
| In your Webmail, click on My Account. Then click on the word vacation. In the message box there is a pre-written message that you can use for your vacation message that people will receive when they email you. If you don’t like that one you can edit it to fit your needs. Once you have a message you like click on submit and the message will be enabled. To turn it off fill in the circle next to Unset/remove vacation notice and click submit and it will be disabled. |
| Your password should not be based on a dictionary word or dates. The majority of passwords are made up of common words and hackers are fully aware of this. Having a password of this type puts your account at much greater risk. |
| Your password should be at least 7 characters long using a mixture of UPPER and lower case letters, numbers/symbols. |
| Yes. When you log into your webmail, click onto My Account. Once the menu drops down, click on Password. This will take you to the “Change Your Password” screen. Next, fill in the blanks with the information needed including the old password, and the new password you want. The password will be reset after you click on the change password box. |

|
| Yes they can as long as they have a Internal modem. More and more new computers are not coming stock with an internal modem. If you did not have a modem included with your new computer you can purchase an external usb modem which functions that same as an internal one. |
|
| The first things you should do are to go offline and try dialing in again. If this doesn't fix the problem, try rebooting the computer. If you have any firewall software, disable it. If all else fails, your Dialup Networking settings may be incorrect or damaged. Contact Nsight for technical support. |
| This usually means that the username and/or the password are incorrect. Retype both the username and password in the fields, making sure your caps lock key is turned off. Usernames should always be typed in all lower-case. Passwords are case-sensitive, and must be typed in exactly for your dialup connection to work properly. If your password still doesn't work, contact Nsight for technical support. This error can also occur if your dialup account is already in use on another computer. |
| Click on Start, Settings and Control Panel, and then double-click on Network Connections. Next, right-click on your NetNet/Nsight dialup icon and choose properties. Remove the checkmark that says "Use dialing rules." |
| Usually the phone line not being plugged into the correct port of the modem causes this problem. Check the connection of the phone cord and try again. On most modems, there are two ports (phone jacks). Make sure your phone line is plugged into the "line" port and not the one labeled as "phone." If the problem persists, your modem may have been damaged by lightning, etc. |
| Chances are there is a phone dialer or fax software conflicting with the port the modem is using. Try to disable all call center programs as well as fax software. If the problem persists contact your computer manufacturer. This error can also occur if your modem was damaged by lightning, etc. |
| The settings in Network under Control Panel are not set correctly or certain files are missing. First, try restarting the computer. If the problem persists then a reinstallation of Dialup Networking (DUN) is needed. If you need help uninstalling and reinstalling DUN, please contact Nsight for assistance. |
| Usually when you receive busy signals after dialing in, it is because you have a *70 in the phone number, but do not have call waiting. If this is not the case, be sure that the number you are dialing is a local number and that you are not dialing the area code with the number. If you are still getting the line busy error, please call Nsight for technical support. |
| Yes, you can. However, due to the large quantities and varieties of wireless routers that exist, Nsight technical support will be unable to fully support devices that you attach to your connection. |
| There is no definitive answer to this question as some DSL modems will be compatible with our service and others will not. If you do decide to use your own DSL modem, please be aware the Nsight Technical support will be no longer be able to provide technical support to your connection. |
| Yes! Depending on the equipment in place you can connect as many devices as you want, although you’ll need to remember they all share the same connection. So, the more devices that are in use the slower the connection to each could become. |
| Our high-speed DSL cannot improve or degrade a computer’s performance at all. The service only affects the speed at which websites and downloads can potentially occur. |
| Nsight high-speed DSL will not make your phone lines busy. You can have a telephone call and be online at the same time! |
| Depending on your geographical location, you could get up to a 6Mb download in the Abrams area, or a 3Mb download in the Pulaski area. |
| We have wireless-equipped routers available for an additional $3.95 per month. |
| Our standard install will include a DSL modem that has a 4 port switch built in, allowing 4 separate devices to be plugged in for Internet. Equipment will vary for bundled services. |

|
|
|
| Try pressing the “Guide” button until you see the “All” tab at the top of the channel guide. This is changing your view of channels to display all of the channels instead of the channels on a favorites list or just the subscribed channels. |

| There are many different reasons why tiling may occur on a recorded program, they are as follows: The cable station provider may be experiencing issues when the program is being recorded. There may not be enough bandwidth to support recording the specific program. This can be especially true if the customer is recording a high definition program while also watching a high definition program. (Bandwidth can be best described as - the amount of data that can be carried from one point to another at any given time) Another reason the picture may be tiling could be due to issues with a defective DVR unit. In any of these cases, Nsight strongly urges customers to contact a technical support representative for further troubleshooting on the issue. |

| Presently there are no options allowing our customers to do this. Digital Video stored on the DVR is encoded and would first need to be decoded to allow it to be stored and played back on a computer Hard Drive. This would require the use of extra hardware in a customer’s personal computer. Currently Nsight Telservices does not support this. |

| Human-readable names like "nsight.com" are easy for people to remember, but they don't do machines any good. All of the machines use names called IP addresses to refer to one another. For example, the machine that humans refer to as "www.nsight.com" has the IP address 206.40.99.12. Every time you use a domain name, you use the Internet's domain name servers (DNS) to translate the human-readable domain name into the machine-readable IP address. During a day of browsing and e-mailing, you might access the domain name servers hundreds of times! |

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard network protocol used to copy a file from one host to another over a TCP/IP-based network, such as the Internet. FTP is built on a client-server architecture and utilizes separate control and data connections between the client and server applications, which solves the problem of different end host configurations (i.e., Operating System, file names).[1] FTP is used with user-based password authentication or with anonymous user access. Applications were originally interactive command-line tools with a standardized command syntax, but graphical user interfaces have been developed for all desktop operating systems in use today. |
| A server that gives you more control over server settings but it still shared between a few users. Often these servers use "virtualization" to run an instance of an operating system so that you can control your server independently of another user who has a virtual dedicated account on that same server. |
| Just that, a server dedicated to you, you can change any settings you like and are also responsible for most maintenance and updates. |
| One server shared between many users, and has limited "core" functionality. So you would not be able to change certain settings on the server. |

A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own or lease for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation. The scope of hosting services varies widely. The most basic is web page and small-scale file hosting, where files can be uploaded via File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or a Web interface. The files are usually delivered to the Web "as is" or with little processing. Many Internet service providers (ISPs) offer this service free to their subscribers. People can also obtain Web page hosting from other, alternative service providers. Personal web site hosting is typically free, advertisement-sponsored, or inexpensive. Business web site hosting often has a higher expense. Single page hosting is generally sufficient only for personal web pages. A complex site calls for a more comprehensive package that provides database support and application development platforms (e.g. PHP, Java, Ruby on Rails, ColdFusion, and ASP.NET). These facilities allow the customers to write or install scripts for applications like forums and content management. For e-commerce, SSL is also highly recommended. The host may also provide an interface or control panel for managing the Web server and installing scripts as well as other services like e-mail. Some hosts specialize in certain software or services (e.g. e-commerce). They are commonly used by larger companies to outsource network infrastructure to a hosting company. |
